I had one. That is a rheostat (Porcelin coil resistor) to adjust the maximum strenght of the brake. It is connected externally via a KO servo plug. So the whole unit is the main unit, an external relay and an external brake adjuster. Ah, it also use a fuse, those glass 13A home type . It was so heavier.
