it is good price for a beginner's brushless esc & motor set.
so normally for a more advance level how much would it be?
Beginner ESC Set: Brushless, sensorless ~ $5xx

Novice ESC Set: Brushless, sensored ~ $8xx to $1000

Pro ESC: Brushless sensored ~ $12xx to $17xx (ESC only)
Motor from $400 to $700

Hobbywing is a China brand.  They make ESC's for planes, boats and cars.
For about $500, it is very good value!
I bought one set for 8 months, no problems so far.
Only the on/off switch and the fan broke, but both can be replaced.

But of course, if you have a bigger budget, you should get a better ESC.

oh ching, i'm playing TT01 type E. a beginner. all items were introduced by 枝出 boss. talkative guy...but still not sure if i got ripped off or not....

i still need to get a servo ar...which one is good (value and quality) for a beginner? i got 2PL AM now...
Hobbywing 35A + 13T/9T is good value. This is a good set for TT01.
Don't worry, you didn't get ripped off.

For servo, it all depends on your budget too.
beginner: ~ $100
novice: ~ $300
pro: > $500

For good value, you can look into taiwanese brands.
such as? also which shop got the best price? i dun mind going for novice level....coz i know i'm gonna get poisoned soon so probably will upgrade the car instead of parts for TT01...is that a right decision?
if you think u will get poison, its best to get something pass the beginner's stage to save $.  here are my suggestions:

Car Kit: New TA05 or a used TRF415 ~ $1200to$1600
ESC + Motor: sensored, ESC can handle about 5.5T, probably 60A unit. ~ $800
Servo: Futaba 9551 ~$550
Controller: Spektrum DX3S is a very good buy for 2.4G. ~$1600
Lipo + Charger ~$500

total around: ~$5000
For the best price, you really have to shop around KWS.
But the shop you mentioned in your 1st post has pretty good price.
damn $5k....shiit. i already got some rookie shiit here......well my car still not built up yet, since missing servo...

at this stage i think i should just finish my car and get some grip on this rookie car first....then jump to your suggested level.....

thanks a lot for all these details.....

but for those ESC, servo controller, etc can be reuse for other car or RC toys...so for long term is a good investment...
after you start playing rc as a hobby, $100 is peanuts! haha

for servo, get the futaba/sanwa/ko.  you can use these for many years!
i also suggest that even if you are starting on tt01... try NOT to upgrade too much on this chassis since it is still a beginner's line.

next in line, you really should look into a good 2nd hand professional level car like:
HB Cyclone
Tamiya TRF415/TRF416
Xray T2'008/009

of course, buying new is even better if you have budget.
haha peanuts...
so i should get 9551 for my TT01? that shop is the best price or somewhere else?

Futaba 9551 is around $520 - $550. you have to shop around for the 'best' price.

A lot of other c-hing also use Hitec.  I never tried, but maybe you can ask the store to see if it is good or not.  it should be a little cheaper than futaba.

good luck!
futaba 9551 is a good choice.

short profile, fast and strong!
how about 9550?
just bought a blue bird servo...that shop recommended. 6.2kg + 0.06s for $197 is it good?

futaba 9550 is the older model of 9551.  but it has discontinued already.  it is either used or very old stock.

I have never tried blue bird. the spec is good, price is good. but dont know about quality.
