how long i should charge up a new lipo battery? as i know some Nicd battery need to use slow charge mode for the first time.

Do you have LIPO charger?
If your lipo battery is 4000mah you can use 4A to charging it.(5000=5A 3000=3A ETC)
Lipo battery didn't slow charge.
But use the balance charge to charge Lipo battery is the most common.
Hope can slove your problems~
