I suppose you would like to get an M05. Check the link below to see if you like it. Then raise your questions 1 by 1. http://www.tamiya.com/japan/products/58483minicooper/index.htm作者: inch123456 時間: 2011-4-7 00:30 本帖最後由 inch123456 於 2011-4-7 00:31 編輯
thanks..that is what I am looking for....
btw, what is the different between ATOMIC VMII
How much is it? and what should I buy for full set?
The one I showed you is Tamiya M05, which is a fun car. Atomic's VMII is for serious racing. They both fit the Mini body shell.
I am not sure about the price but I think M05 is about $700 and VMII maybe over $1500. Just go to KWS and ask. If you want to be a serious racer, there are other choices.
If you go for M05, you will need to buy a set of radio, a quality servo, battery and charger. But you will be tempted to buy tons of optional parts.
If you go for VMII, you will need a set of radio, a quality servo, battery and charger, ESC, a motor, a body shell maybe a set of tyres and tyre inserts. But VMII is almost full-option. 作者: inch123456 時間: 2011-4-7 22:03
Thanks.......
Just wonder ..... M05 needs a set of radio + a quality servo+ battery and charger..But no need to get ESC and motor? and what radio set is good for new hands...like the price and functions...
I went to KWS to see.. but there are a lot of shops... what shops are you recommend?
Some M05 models come with a set of entry level motor + ESC. So you may not need to buy them separately. For radio, I strongly recommend you buying a 2.4G system. You can consider Futaba's 2PL or 4PL. You can check from www.rcmart.com for reference. But their listed prices are on the high side.

I would not recommend those "full packages", reasons being:
1. They are fully assembled by the factory. The process of assembling the car is most fun to me. You also may not know how to repair the car after crashing it because it is not assembled by you.
2. They don't come with 2.4G radio systems. Nowadays almost no one will buy a non-2.4G radio system.
3. They only come with a "slow" charger. It takes a whole night to charge the battery. No one use such chargers now.
4. The battery included in the package usually is cheap.
The only advantage is that the body shell is fully painted and with the decal applied. Making the body shell is the most difficult step for both new hands and old hands.作者: inch123456 時間: 2011-4-8 23:56
Thanks...
Just wonder ..for M Chassis Car....except for Tamiya...what else brands have M-car?
Simply speaking, both AM and FM are outdated RC technology. They need to use "crystals" to select different frequencies. Different brands can interfere each other if they are on the same frequency. When you go to a track, you need to ensure no one is using the same frequency.
2.4G is totally different. It is like the Wi-Fi technology. Each receiver has a unique address. You don't need to bother with the frequency on which your radio is operating. 2.4G systems just don't interfere with each other theoretically.
Nowadays, entry level 2.4G systems are already very affordable.
Hope this helps.作者: inch123456 時間: 2011-4-13 22:53 回復 Allan007 的帖子

I can only say a lot of people are using GT3B. But if your budget permits, go for major brands like Futaba.作者: Allan007 時間: 2011-4-15 20:52 回復 inch123456 的帖子
