Let's start a thread about Truggies.

What is/are your favourite truggy? I have been seeing alot of these and they are becomming popular in HK as well. With the release of the X1-CRT, HPI Lighting and the Kyosho ST or different conversion kits for the Hyper8, 777, MBX, I am sure it will be a HIT in HK.

Let's talk about Truggies!!!!

Oh yes Brother, this Mugen converted Truggy only has a relatively short A arms .... since it is converted from a Buggy. A normal Truggy, as per description by Hong Nor, has a longer A arms on both sides, like what they made for their CRT ....

I always had the impression that the wheel extender (the long hex) from the conversion kit accounts for the shortness of the buggy arms.

Remember....truggy = truck + buggy

But that thing does look fun.....but finding people to play with would be rather difficult.

hellfire, another name that I like so much. HPI claims that this Hellfire are extremely light weight, and so if an onroad engine is used in this Hellfire, and when running on onroad, it could be very fast right??

There're actually many different versions for the definition of Truggy.

But it all comes down to what you said. A truggy is a term derived from combining the words "Truck" + "Buggy" = "Truggy".

Basically it is a car which has the construction and layout of a buggy, but with a truck shell and MT/Truck wheels. The width of the car is wider then a buggy due to the extended arms and the width of the wheels. In my opinion, truggy is different from Monster Trucks as the CG is lower for a truggy and doesnn't climb or crawl rocks.

I hope I am right.........

Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Yup, it's my truggy.

Quickly assemble the car and bash around la ..... What engine U want to use?? BTW, the servo I only use the 13kg ones from KO and it performs very well .....

Ya...I want to build the kit ASAP, but I wanna wait till the weekend so I can do it in one day.

Engine wise, I am still considering.  I am torn between the OS V-Spec and the STS, SH .28

Technically, this is my first nitro car, so I want something which I can maintain with ease.  The STS and SH engines are cheap, but alot of maintenance work is required for it to perform good and last?

So now, I have to look for a steering servo and an engine.  What's a good budget servo?  What model is your's, brother Skyline?

Buy OS V-Spec la, you will not regret! Or Sirio Kanai 2 is pretty fast! You can expect the STS and SH engine won't last long! But it is budget choice definitely!

OH brother, I have to say that I like the OS better, at least for the shape of the heatsink and the pattern that has imprinted on top ..... so nice .... and detailed ...

The STS that I've used costed around $0.7K, and the OS cost around $1.1K ... and STS is .28 while OS is .30 .... I hate to say that but, haha, OS should be better in my opinion ....

STS is just good enough for me to fool around on the beach la

No.....I have been so busy with friends from overseas. I am only 20% done with the car (Just finish the diffs and front end).

Still deciding what engine to buy....so many choices........

- STS - .21, .28
- SH - .21, .28
- OS - .21, .30

Yes, I do like high power engine for the trucks, and I just love the engine sound when the truck is at full speed .... but I have to risk the total damage of the engine piston because the engine might be too lean ....

I got the STS 28 at $7XX at 2 months ago, and not sure about the price now ... could be even cheaper man ....

The STS D21B and D21T have gotten very positive reviews with excellent quality and sounds like a good choice for the money.

I shall go check out KWS this week if possible. I just hope I'll have the time.

The Red head PRO version is suppose to be VERY powerful and good.

Oh yes brother Crunch, I think I have typed the wrong brand, sorry. What I've is the STS 28 engine, the heatsink is black and the engine so far is OK. Very powerful and I need to put some shim below the heatsink to decrease the power.

I've also bought another engine, the OS 30, very beautiful heatsink (got flower pattern on top) and I will break in this one very soon .... Just go and get one power plant for your Truggy la ....

Actually....I am the one who got things mixed up.....Sorry...LOL...

I will get the engine very soon....just not this week....I have drained my bank account these 2 months!!!

Can't wait to get this thing up and running....must plan a trip to FSY then.
