Good idea, but maybe likely less support from manufacturers. F1 require less complicated components; less number of parts to wear-out; hence lower maintenance cost. So maybe less attractive for manufacturers to make profit.
Although, comparing to 1/12th, maybe one day we get F1 world champions.
