For newbie, "RTR"/Ready set is a good idea,
Anyway, back to your question, the ESC and Motor from MP9e Ready set is actually quite good, it is a 120A (or 130A) esc from HobbyWing, motor is a 2100kv, which is powerful enough, the stock gear is very conservative, you can run a bigger motor pin for more speed, and also set the ESC to higher punch. The servo, however is a bit weak, for low traction area such as sand land is ok .. just spend $200 or so to buy a better servo.
The radio is actually quite nice, one of the best from a Ready Set, (other then Losi 8 2.0) very good design, nice LCD display with backlight, lots of functions too, good enough for new user. The range may not be the best, don't compare to Futaba.
The car itself is actually "less" excited, the body shell is thin, the shock towers are also thin, and only 2 saterlite gears inside all 3 diffs (normally 4) but the design and geomotry is world class! At the end of the day, Kyosho knows 1/8 buggy better then any other brand in the world.
IMO, for $3,500, it is a great 1/8 buggy, especially if you love the history of Kyosho
You can also look at Team C T8Re RTR, RC8,2e RTR and Snake 811e RTR, they are all as good.
