My LRP esc has a funny issue

It is a LRP Sphere TC spec. Last time I played, after the last run, I found that the fan didn't rotate, I believe it was because of a collision (My car is a F1, ESC mounted on the side). I squeezed the fan a bit, it started to rotate again. Then I didn't pay more attention to it and went home.

At night, after I did the routine maintenance, I tried to test the motor. But the ESC couldn't turn on! I found that the fan would turn for 1 or 2 circle and stop, and the light on the ESC would not light up.

I checked all the wire for short circuit, no problem found. I was very upset.

Then I tried to squeeze the fan again.... then it turned on!!! Very very strange indeed.

Any ching has this experience? How can a damaged fan can disable an ESC?

Any chance the fan is deformed then cause a short circuit internally?

what does this "it" mean?

I guess the ESC. If yes, it may probably due to the fan was a bit short circuited and there is a protection circuit in the ESC to stop everything once it detects short circuit in the fan output.

I blowed the ESC apart, cleared the whole thing will contact cleaner (motor water), and reassemble it.... then it works again!

I agree that there may be some contact or short circuit issue.

BTW it is not that difficult to blow up and reassemble this ESC.... easier than what I thought.... anyway, good for me, my experience point +1, and saved some money
