Well, right now, Hobbyking is selling TWO 1/8 with the same platform, and most of their cars have been selling for few years, so .. parts supply should be "OK" for next 2/3 year ..which is more then enough! most RC cars change to newer model in 3 year anyway ... (other then Traxxas... )
And we are talking 1/8, they are very strong in general, especially when playing in HK, HOT and WET .... and unless you do 20 ft jump all the time .. or abuse it at Skate park .. or run it with 6s and gear it to 100km/hr plus ... (Opps.. American style!) otherwise, just keep some spare spur gear, diff gear, may be one extra set of arms/cup/front tower/dog bone .. should last you many years of bashing! All those extra spare parts may only cost another $3/400 .... less then just ONE piece of front shock tower of a Tki !! LOL
Unlike the Tamiya Truggy, dirt cheap sale price from $899 US dollar to $99 .. (ship to my friend in US, then he shipped to me ... still cost near $200 cad ... ) that thing is near impossible to get parts to here now ..
From my experience, I have ~ 10 HobbyKing RC, NONE of them broken, other then body shells and crappy plastic servo horns ... (I didn't play them super hard nor set them to insane speed...) vs every single Traxxas brushless I have .. break something within 3 min .. (with 3s on small one, 6s on big one) ..
Well, not that I love HobbyKing's RC or Traxxas' RC ... just because they are pretty much the only TWO brands I can get here in Canada without problem, plus cheap and easy to get parts ... |
