The first A-Main was the 17.5T Touring Car main. TQ Andrew Knapp was sent
back to ninth place early in this main as Dave Johnson made an early move
starting 3rd by driving around Brad Johnson for second spot in turn one and
capitalizing on a mistake by Andrew knapp for the lead by the end of lap
one. Michael Bruce made several terrific moves to move up through the pack
and just over a minute in had moved up to second place from his ninth spot
on the grid. Dave Johnson was able to pull out a massive lead and never
looked back! Johnson elected to run fresh tires for the main which he stated
later gave him a big grip advantage. " My car seemed to work very good on
fresh tires all weekend, so i took advantage of it for the main". When the
time expired it was Dave Johnson taking the impressive A1 win followed by
Michael Bruce, Knapp, Brad Johnson and Keulen.
