If your esc dosen't support 7.4v , then you need
Externel bec. Usually thesedays esc support 6v. So I also use bec for using 7v. easy to set up. You can search in youtube. Also not that very high cost.
When you connect your 7.4v or 11.1v battery to your ESC, the internal BEC of your ESC only generates 6v power to your receiver which use to support most of your electronics on the car.
Unless you use RX8 Gen2 or the VTX8 which allow you to adjust the internal BEC up to 7.4v and 7v, you will need an external BEC to support HV servos.
Yes, for 2s, use that connector between the servo and receiver. Connect the red wire to the +ve of the battery. (This is for 2S only. If you run 3s you will fry the servo.). This setup your receiver still use 6V from the esc but your servo will get full 7.4V direct from the battery.
