wide pitch has less teeth on the pully service while having the same diameter. ie, 36T normal pulley has 36 teeth on it, but wide pitch 36T only has 18 teeth.
Less teeth -> less contact area with the belt -> less friction according to what Tamiya is saying ...
I see. But it is talking about using the same belt, right? That means each tooth of the pulley will serve for two teeth of the belt. When we focus on each pair of teeth on the belt, then, will the pressure on each tooth of the belt be increased while the adjacent one be idle?
I used the same belt, not sure if there is any special belt for wide pitch pulley.
i guess you are right that the contact pressure of each tooth will increase when using wide pitch pulley.
Personally, I cannot feel the difference during running.
It must be a valid reason why other RC makes do not follow the wide pitch design ...
