If you want to upgrade ESC, will you go for GTX or XBR?  I will be using in Touring car with 27T or 19T motor.  Seldom race.  Currently using GTS and MC330.

GTX.... pro racing esc with mulitple profiles with no motor limit; but brushed motors only
http://www.teamnovak.com/products/esc/gtx/index.html

XBR... support both brushed and brushless.  Has Lipo cut-off; Novak claimed it has GTX performance, but only 1 profile for brushed, and 3 wires go to (-) of a brushed motor.

GTB is not a choice because it cost more, and I can't use fan as I play on street.

if you use brushed motors and nimh batteries, GTX is enough.
XBR seems to be better because lipo and brushless motors are getting more and more popular these days~

yet, mc330 + 23T is a very good choice to play on street, and it's costless.

I recommend GTX. It never let me down.

I used to play with GTX + 8x2 Checkpoint motor + 6cells IB4200wc. With proper gear ratio, without cooling fan it never has thermal cut under very hot environment ( noon - afternoon in PYC, it's really hot ). And it's quite punchy too ( it's about same punchy as my VSF1 ).

And I've heard that Brushless ESC + brushed motor isn't giving best result. Unless you're planning to move to brushless system. GTB is a good choice.

That's actually a very good feedback on GTX.

BTW, I just won a bid on an used GTX (US$40+$10 shipping)

Bro James, what do you mean?  US$50 is about HK$400.  You mean that's the market price in HK?  Or you would worry about the quality because it's a cheap 2nd hand ESC?

如果用来一般玩XBR加无刷已经好好,但用来斗车GTX也可能不如VFS1 C2。

I have one good example,

I have GTX on M03, IB4200WC ( I put mode 3, which is not the punchiest, I still have room for more punch mode 2 or 1 )

My friend has VSF1 on M03, IB4200WC, ( plus a special caps, I don't know what is the brand, but quite expensive )

Both running a well run-in Tamiya black pig

We played at PYC, Me and my friend see very very very significantly. My car run faster both low and top speed.

I also own a VSF1, I did run a Checkpoint 8x2 on GTX and VSF1 time to time. I may say I can't feel different on both ESC.

So my conclusion is, GTX may have advantage running on slow motor like white / black pig.
If running a modified motor, they should be at the same level.

Wow, good info.  I got the GTX running with a 27T motor.  I am on Mode 4, and already feel the punch compare to my GTS.

Want to do a conclusion here.  I ended up got both GTX and XBR, but GTX for brush motor and XBR for brushless.

GTX.  Got this before the XBR.  Very reliable, good size, programmable, good punch.  But also because of the punch, it makes the motor very hot.  My Trinity Co27 got so hot to a point that the whole sticker came off.  I already had a cooling fan mounted on the motor.

XBR.  I got that with EX13.5R.  That's equal to 27T stock motor.  I like it a lot.  Ran 3 packs in a row, and that ESC and motor didn't get hot.  I don't need to fan in the car, and I don't need to worry about the brush.  On TA05, with Orion 3200 Lipo, it gives me close to 30min run before the biult-in lipo cut-off function kicked in.  Overall, I got longer run time.  Compare to GTB and SS13.5R?  I don't know, but I am satisfied with the XBR since I am not racing.  I haven't been using the GTX ever since.

Brushless rocks!!!!

Hi, GiaRacer,

I bought XBR package as well, but I mine is XBR + 10.5R.  In fact, I want 11.5 (if Novak have) so that I can race with my friend they use 23T fairly.  What do you "feel" about the speed of your 13.5?  Could it catch up the speed of 23T rushed motor?

Thanks

23T is not very popular here.  We mostly use 27T or 19T.  I expect 23T is about the same speed as 19T.  Then, the answer would be NO.  13.5 is about the same speed as 27T.  Little bit faster than black pig.

11.5, I think only SpeedPassion has it.

Hi, may I know how to translate those R to T value??

benz1850 發表於 2007-10-10 17:16:04 | 只看該作者
# of R *2 = T
eg.

11.5*2= 23
10.5*2=21....etc...etc

XBR不用加散热风扇吗?
