I am a newbie of Mini-Z...
What is different betweeen MR015 and MR02??
Thank you.
The biggest different of the chassis of 015 & 02 is the battery placement. 02 CG is lower that 015 since battaries lay down but 015 batteries stand up.
RM,MM & HM is talking about the motor mount & motor placement.
1. MM - motor mounts in front of the rear diff
2. RM - motor mounts behind the rear diff
3. HM - motor mounts above the rear diff
Different kinds motor mounts is used for RM, MM & HM.
They're supposed to use for different kind of bodies.
For example :
1. Enzo is 98mm wheel base & is supposed to use MR02 MM setting. The latest 2.4 Ghz LeMan series are 102 mm wheel base & also MR02 MM setting.
2. Audi A4 DTM or NSX are 94mm wheel base & is supposed to use MR02 RM setting. You cannot use MM setting by using original Kyosho MM motor mount since it can only give you the shortest 98MM wheel base. However, many third parties parts suppliers made 94mm WB MM motor mounts so you have wider choice of body if you don't want to change to RM.
3. Nissan GTR R32 & R34 are 94mm wheel base & is supposed to use MR015 RM setting. MR015 chassis front end is narrow so it fits this kind of body. RM motor setting can change wheel base from 86 - 94mm ( RX7 FC & FD are 90mm WB & Porsche 934 is 86mm WB ).
You can even run a MR015 MM setting with the 3rd party 94mm WB MM motor mount. However, the shortest WB of option MM motor mount is 94mm so bodies like FC, FD or Porsche 934 can't use MM setting.
You can also cut the front ends of MR02 chassis & install option narrow front ends so you can use bodies supposed to be used with MR015 on a MR02 chassis. Just remember that if you choose MM setting, the shortest you can go is 94mm WB.
It's kind of complicate for newbies but everyone here is willing to help out. The main point is you have to decide whether you're more into performance or appearance. If you're more into performance, MR02 MM setting is your first priority then choose the body that fits. If you're more into playing with bodies, choose the bodies first then the chassis layout.
I'm into both so I have both MR015 & 02, RM & MM mounts. |
