For brushless motor, the center core is the magnet and for brushed motor, the magnet is outside. They are different method of putting the magnets and the coils. Brushless motor is moving magnet and brushed motor is moving coil.
i.e. brushless = MC
brushed = MM
Do you know the MM and MC cartridge in the 33 1/3 turns / min 12" black plastic records in the past two years ago. MM cartidge is cheap while MC cartridge is very expensive, just opposite to the motor.
