Traxxas engineers wanted to be sure the transmission, driveline, and chassis were ready to take on extreme power, so they devised a way to harness not one, but two modified Velineon VXL-3s power systems into a single E-Maxx. Crazy? Maybe. But the result was 50+ mph of evil, tire-searing horsepower, rolling wheelies at 40+ mph, explosive torque anywhere, and the most abusive driveline testing imaginable. According to Traxxas this is still a work in progress. They won’t say whether this thing will hit the production lines any time soon, nor will they speculate on pricing. You can be assured that with two Velineon systems aboard it wouldn’t be cheap. I personally think it would be more likely that they’d come up with a larger single motor system made just for the E-maxx to keep costs down. Then again who knows, anything is possible. BTW Traxxas warns not to attempt this yourself because the two Velinion motors and ESCs were specially modified to run in dual motor configuration. |
