IMO, to classify the type of car you play is by the major purpose of your run. For example "fast car" is originally call "Modified". Why it call "fast car" in Chinese is because there is limit rules being put on the race so that people can have more space to make the car as fast as possible. This kind of race encourage people to put whatever it can to produce the fastest car in the class.
Contrast to "Modified", there is "Stock" race. Which is more rules/regulations will be applied to the class of race so that the equipment will not bring too much on the succeed. Instead this kind of race encourages good performance during the race without rely on the high-end equipments such as newest speedo, motor, and etc. Under such conditions, new pals who just start RC race or for whom who not ready to spend too much on equipment, can have a more fair race within the peer group and enjoy the fun. This also help promote RC hobby. Since low-end class equipments are usually used in stock class, the speed of the race is usually slower then modified class. So stock become referred as "slow car" in Chinese.
So if you tell you've gonna play "Fast car" on a track, people will expect you have put whatever you can to bring the car to as fast as possible. And your car should be tuned with a similar straight road speed on a given track with other "fast cars". This is a very important reference. Because for a group of people who claim to play with the same class, people will expect each other will have the similar acceleration characteristic. Otherwise it is easy to have accident in the run. And the straight road top speed, acceleration characteristic are the very basic indicator. |
