In pan car, people usually use 'Rollout' rather than using 'Gear Ratio'. The reason is because pan uses foam tires, so it will decrease the diameter as the tire wears. In touring, rubber tires do not shrink in size, so gear ratio is used.
For rollout, you have to know the rear tire diameter, the spur gear and pinion gear to calculate.
(Rollout = Pi * Tire * Pinion / Spur)
Assuming you using 62mm tires with 95 teeth spur, for 13.5R/10.5R you can aim for 60-70mm rollout. The pinion to use is 29 to 34.
It is best to test, after 2-3 minutes, if the motor is too hot, then use less pinion gear. If the motor is warm or cool, you can try more pinion gear.
Lastly, tires: rear use soft, front use medium at JV. |
