For a new.comer in rc, it depends what kind of car you would like to start with. Unfortunately I could not give you much information if you want to start with a buggy, but I could give you as much information as I could for you to start with a touring car.
For your first rc i would suggest something durable and requires less maintanance. There are ultimately a few choices, like the team associated tc4 club racer, tamiya cars, and other companies. But above all I would suggest the SPEC R S1.
Costing nothing more than $850,it has everything that you would ever need including the performance and all. Made in Hong Kong, plenty of parts available in 廣華街. So No worries about crashing much.
The car comes as a kit, quite easy to build, but do read the instruction clearly. Also you would need some bags of 3mm 5mm inner diameter shims for the arms, steering assemblies and such. You will have to change all the 波頭 at first because the kit ones are terrible.
Tools : 3mm arm reamer, 2mm, 1.5mm 2.5mm screw drivers, philips head screw driver, body reamer, filer or sand paper, a clamp, a chisel, a 十字架,some electrical tape, double sided tape, zip ties.
Things you will need for the car.
For the shocks, you can use 350# silicone oil for a quick rebound. 650# for a slower rebound. On low traction surfaces like football courts you would want to use softer springs for better grip in dusty areas like that.however if you want to drive on high traction tracks like TRC or JORDAN VALLEY ,then harder springs are recommended. Harder springs must be placed at the front of the car as you get a much more predictable steering responce and a less shifty rear. When you go in to more advanced level you can start to set your rebound rate, but you can save for that later. These shock oils doesn't cost much. You can buy team c or other brands, they only cost around $40.
Tires ,the most crucial part in making a good handling rc car. Depending on the weather, track temperature and humidity, chosing the right set of three are important, and I suggest you spending some money on them. For a starter, you can buy TEAM POWERS TIRES. They are all about $150and they are quite good For track use. For the weather of Hong Kong you can use either 32r or 36r. In extremly hot weather you may need 40r tires. For normal uses you can use the BLASTOFF TIRES from east coast. You can buy them in the shop right to hobby hobby in 廣華街。really great tires for normal casual running, soft compound and durable.
Now your remote. You want a good, reliable remote. If money is not so much of a problem, get the FUTABA 4PL. But if it is a problem and you are on a tight budget, get the FLYSKY GT3C. AGAIN functional and quite a good value. The futaba is about $1200 and the flysky $400.
Motor, start with a brushed 25t motor, it is quite slow but I suggest you to learn how to drive well first before you move on to better motors and esc. If you are ready get a speed passion combo or team powers combo.
Body shell , get the body shell that you love with low power motors, but of you get to higher power, get one with tones of downforce like a proficiency tsx or ltcr.
Battery. You can start with a nimd battery, 7.4v about $180. Or a lipo, I would suggest silverback elite $270.
servo. Either FUTABA S2002 $80, or much higher speed, higher torque savox servo 1251mg $400
that's all I have to say, follow y guide lines if you want to start with a touring car. Hope it helps. |
