They are sort of different ... but also similar... I know most c hing will say go buy the better kit, put all nice race gears in it......
I have all 4, (Mp9e Tki kit, ready set, T8e RTR and kit) should be able to give you some advice, at the end of the day, it depends on how much (time and money) you want to spend...
If you don't have any spare radio, electronic yet, and you are new into 1/8 buggy, ready set is not a bad idea, ready set/RTR now is getting better and better, and also better price, use MP9e Tki as example, it is more or less the dream machine for buggy people, however, at $6,500 for the kit alone, not many people are willing to pay that amount, (worth it or not, very personal, for me, I won't pay that much as I don't race, so I bought mine used) so now, Kyosho makes the Mp9 Tki ready set for just $3,500, it is already built, with over 60% components from Japan, (unlike other ready set) it also come with very good esc and motor, (not trim down 550 size as the inferno ve before) and the radio is a nice 5 memory 3/4 channels with nice LCD display with some advance features. Just the servo is a bit weak.
Sure the mp9 RTR is not as good as the pro kit, but for half the price, and give you more stuffs, it is quite the bargain. You still get same size shocks, anti roll bars, same geometry, nice moto mount, same adjustment, nice finish body ...... But missing the 4 gear diff ( just 2) no cva, only stamped aluminum .... What I suggest is, you can buy the RTR, if u break something, then you can upgrade.
It is more fair to compare the Mp9 rtr to the T8e rtr as well, which is also a great buggy at even lower price, (I think $2800 or so...) but the radio is a bit too simple and plain, esc isn't that good, and the servo is bad... Just not near as good as one electronic from Mp9 ready set, so I would suggest the mp9e ready set over the T8e RTR, (unless Team C has updated version with it)
Of course, if you are willing to spend more time and money, (say u will go track with some friend together) then the Team C T8e v3 kit would be a very nice choice, you can learn more from building, pick whatever electronic to fit you. It is also easy to get parts.
By the way, I think it is quite easy to get parts for mp9 online, as it is so popular and highly rated, you just need to wait for few day to a week. |
