Duncan, please check whether you make any mistake while you build the diff. I have check mine and it certainly does not have the nut stick out like that.. I have the same set of parts turns out perfectly..I will try to take some photo for you too. Sorry for my late reply..
Actually I have a funny feeling that You havn't tighten the screw enough or at all...are your diff working properly like this?? Doesn't it feel too lose or anything?
Now I think I know what's your problem after checking your photo....I think the screw is on the wrong side of the diff...Check carefully again with your menu and you will know what I mean..

No, mine was just the normal version, not the WCE, however, I am planning to get the WCE shocks, I heard from others that the WCE shocks is a major improvement then the original one on bleeding oil out...the original is really a pain to build right..

Yes, that is good...but I tell you a small secret, the original slipper and the updated slipper behave differently, they actually affect the handling of the car more then you think, rather then just provide you adjustability from the outside.. So, keep the original one and test on it, then you will know...
Oh, one more option I will suggest you to get, which is the center one-way. It's really good cause if you don't need it, you can use a pin to lock it back up, and it become normal again. I have install this right from the beginning when I build my car..
The front one-way will be a good option to keep, but not recommended, due to the fact that it will make controling the movement of the car " in-air" alot harder...
