Umm..i have not try wor......becasue of the above reason...thats why u see my smart stop is solder as a seperate unit. I have batery flug and T-plug to hook it up. So if i am using NiMH i can take the smart stop away easily..
When battery starts to go down and approaches the critical value of 6.25 V (if i remember correctly), the Blue LED will flash...indicating you are low on battery and advise you to stop playing.
However if you keep playing while the LED flashes, when the power drops below 6.25V, the smart stop will stop the car only leaving sterring function......
All that is doing is to pretect the Lipo being over discharge~

I do it this way,
I use a seperate connector between the Lipo batteries to the ESC. At this seperatte connector add another linakge for the smart stop.
Then the smart stop can be remove or replug whenever u are needed~
