1. Prepare the surface so that it is as smooth and error free as possible.
2. Wash the model with detergent and warm water.
3. Use distilled water as a rinse.
4. Add a thin coat of primer. This is necessary for the paint to stick properly.
5. If you choose a light color for our car, add a second very light coat of white primer.
6. Let dry overnight.
7. Before spraying, warm the paint by putting it into warm water.
8. Don’t shake the can. Hold the top and swirl the bottom to hear the ball bearing running.
9. When spraying, press the button first and then move the nozzle towards the car body. Release the button only when the nozzle is not directed at the body shell.
10. Start spraying from a longer distance first. Look at the paint all the time.
11. Adjust distance between the model and the nozzle. If the paint is flat on the surface or is leaving orange peel, move the spray can closer to the model. If you do this, move across the model faster. The range I prefer is from 6 to 9 inches approx..
12. If you have not added a primer, spray from a longer distance first.
13. Allow the paint to dry. Take care of defects before your next coat.
14. Use polishing sticks to make the surface even. Put a thin piece of masking tape along the sharp edges. Remove the fine scratches left by the sanding stick by progressively using finer sanding cloth until you reach an 8,000 to 12,000 grit. Use running water as a wetting agent.
14. Add decals.
15. Apply polish coats. Repeat step 10 to 14 so you are not able to see the edges of the decals.
16. Finish it using a soft cloth and a polishing compound. Rub it in a circular motion. Cover a small area at a time.
17. Apply a light coat of modeling wax to give the finish a high luster.
