i persionly got a 501x myself and i think the design of the battery position is great because both sides are more balanced than the ones that uses stick pack and you can really feel the difference on jumps and corners. I also own a DB01 and everythime i need to make quite alot of adjustment in the middle and after the jump because both sides balance is not as good as the 501x and if you notice all the high end level buggy uses side by side layout for example the cyclone D4, Jconcept BJ4, Asso B44, predator x10 and x11 and yokomo MR4 BX etc

you welcome brother lion, i am using GTB 4.5 brushless on my 501x and thinking of getting a 5.5 or even 6.5 motor cause i find the 4.5 is quite diffitcult to handle with my limited driving skill haha and using check point 19T money motor and find it too slow on a buggy speically on 4wd and consider getting a 12T or even 10T motor. and yea the LRP ESC are fine for buggy i saw quite afew people racing with LRP ESC at the club, hope this help . ps where you play your buggy and did you get a normal 501x or the worlds?

my car is 501x world edition, I have a new 8T brush motor but speed contol is too old,
consider to try brushless TC sphere, I'm worry if some rock jam the fan and stop cooling,
it will burn the speed control. hope this never happen

What i would suggest you to do is get a reamer open some holes on the side of the bodyshell by where the ESC is located to let the cool wind flow in instead of just the fan cooling down the ESC so it doesn't matter even if the fan doesn't work if you don't understand what i mean i could show you some photos
