From my understanding with ymc, if you discharge your battery to 3.0V and then recharge at 1C, you should end up with a mah rating very close to the battery mah capacity.

so if you recharge more than 4,XXX, back into the battery, then the chances are you have a 4,200mah capacity.

But if you can only recharge 3,7XX, then it is probably only a 3,800 capacity battery.

Let us know your results. Am very interested to find out.

To clarify. I meant 3.0V per cell.
I set my cut-off to 3.4 for safety when playing. This means that if you test your cells after playing, they will usually show more Volts like 3.6V. this is because it cut-off under load of 3.4V not static at 3.4V.

But to test capacity i think it better to set your cut-off to 3.2V per cell and test to keep your battery happy. But to find real capacity of battery then slow discharge to 3.0V per cell, and recharge.

差LIPO 電是有危险的我用覺得,所以我不離開义的 , 我試過買部新义機 ,第二排電就噴火花嚇死人 , 就是你那一部呀

噴火?义電机 or 電池?其實我睇到市面上賣緊嘅义電,
外貌好似都喺一樣.功能唔知喺咪都一樣呢?

大多數 2xx-3xx lipo charger 都係同一 pcb , 設計一樣, 只係用料上有差別

其實隻隻都ok!出kws幾十蚊一個!

是义機,我幾個朋友同一經驗 , 用平機叉同一位置電線旁走火 . LIPO電小心用不是問題的

I also bought 2 packs of 'BY' 4S Lipo for offroading.  1 of the cells were bad after only 1 run for both packs!!!  So I have no confidence in 'BY' products.  I now run A123.

It is none of business of using 4.2A to charge your 3800 mah cells.   It's about how you use them. You surely have the right to buy those so-called non-Mainland product. It's so easy to do so provided ...

xiang:  No, I didnt exchange.  I took the 4S apart and took out the 1 bad cell and made 3S packs instead.  Actually I have switched to A123 instead.  A123 is safer than Lipo in my opinion.

In my opinion: 'BY' lipo is ok if you intend to run stock motors on 1/10 scale.  If your system requires large discharge rate (ie 1/8 scale or 1/10 5.5R motors etc) its better & safer to invest into better batteries.
